For startup leaders: we read interest rates and credit markets and tell you when to pause or resume hiring, spending and fundraising. Updated every Monday, with an email the day a line is crossed. Sunny: funding pressure below 70, risk appetite above 50 · Cloudy: above 70, above 50 · Stormy: below 70, below 50 · Freezing: above 70, below 50. How they are set
Your decisions this week
5 of 5 areas are past their pause line.
Each answer holds until a score crosses one of its lines, and most weeks none does.
All five areas, side by side
Pause still applies to every area: no line crossed since Jul 31.
Agree on these lines in calm weather so course corrections are automatic, not emergency debates.

Why conditions are Freezing
Funding pressure is above its 70 change line: money is hard to raise. Risk appetite is below its 50 change line: investors are selective about risk. Together they put conditions in Freezing.
Funding pressure shows 90 because that’s as high as the score goes; uncapped it would be 344. So it’s 20 points above its 70 change line on the score, but really 274.

What would change this guidance
What the three lines do (pause, resume, change)
- Pause line
- If a score crosses it, hold off on the areas it covers.
- Resume line
- Once a score is back past it, restart those areas.
- Change line
- If a score crosses it, the week’s conditions change.
Why pause and resume lines differ: Think of the gap like a thermostat. A buffer between pausing and resuming stops your team from thrashing between sudden freezes and restarts week to week.
